"I'm very honored to receive the PSLS Best Thesis Prize for the Faculty of Medicine. This recognition reflects the dedication that went into this research on adolescent health and emphasizes the significance of population health studies in understanding the complexity of adolescent wellbeing, particularly in a world marked by constant changes. I'm deeply grateful to my supervisors Prof. Idris Guessous and Prof. Silvia Stringhini, and to my colleagues whose support and guidance made this achievement possible”
Since completing her thesis on adolescent health, Roxane has started a postdoc at the Unit of Population Epidemiology at the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG), transitioning from three years of adolescent research to studying adult population health. She is now working with the Specchio cohort of over 6,000 adults, investigating contemporary health challenges like dopamine-triggering behaviors and ultra-processed food consumption

“Receiving the 2024-25 PSLS Annual Best Thesis Prize is an incredible honour. It reflects the years of dedication, curiosity, and hard work I poured into my research. It’s deeply rewarding to have my work on human population genomics recognized, and I hope it will inspire others to continue exploring the complex narratives written in human history and diversity. This award is not just a personal milestone, but also a recognition of the support and excellent work from my supervisor and collaborators throughout this journey.”
Since officially completing his PhD, Alexandros has taken the opportunity to publish scientific articles based on his thesis work, while also taking time to travel around Europe and reflect on what comes next, both in science and beyond.
