Thursday, July 20th, 2023

We are proud to announce the 2023 recipients of the Annual Thesis Prize:

Chloe Mayere (Genomics and digital Health, 2022, supervisor Serge Nef), for her work on Characterizing mouse sex determination at the single cell level

Mireia Andreu Carbo (Molecular Biosciences, 2022, supervisor Charlotte Aumeier), for her work on Motor usage imprints microtubule stability along the shaft

The prizes were announced at the Forum of the doctoral School on June 20th.

Chloe is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in Serge Nef Lab, following up on the results presented in her thesis.

"I am delighted and honoured to receive this award for my doctoral thesis. I wasn't expecting it, and the news came as a complete surprise. I would like to express my warmest thanks to my colleagues from the Serge Nef Group. It was all about working together and complementing each other, and without them none of this would have been possible. Many thanks also to my partner, my family and my colleagues in the GEDEV department. Finally, thank you Serge. You have provided us with a wonderful environment, with the opportunity to think outside the box and innovate on our own. And that is really invaluable.”

Mireia is currently a Postdoctoral fellow in Patrick Meraldi and Patrycja Nowak-Sliwinska labs (Cell Physiology and Metabolism; School of Pharmaceutical Sciences; UNIGE) working on the establishment of a pipeline for personalized treatment for colorectal cancer using patient-derived organoids. In particular, she aims to determine optimal low-dose synergistic drug combinations patient-specific; as well as to understand the underlying mechanism of action of the efficacy of the treatment. And most importantly, she is eager to keep learning and helping the scientific community for many years to come.

“I am very honoured to have been awarded with this prize for my thesis. It acknowledges the hard work, perseverance, and invaluable support and guidance received along my research journey. I am truly humbled and thankful for this recognition, inspiring me to continue pushing the boundaries of scientific discoveries”.

 Congratulations to our winners!!
