Molecular Biosciences program
Orsolya Barabas has been appointed Full Professor at the Department of Molecular Biology, starting from January 2021. Orsolya is relocating with her research group from the EMBL in Heidelberg. The group is investigating how mobile genetic elements such as antibiotic resistance genes or transposons autonomously move across genomes, and how their movements affect the physiology, adaptation, and evolution of host genomes.
The Barabas lab currently has an open PhD position – please apply here. |
Physics of Biology program
Guillaume Salbreux has been appointed Full Professor at the Department of Genetics and Evolution. Guillaume has just moved with his research group from the Francis Crick Institute in London. His group is working at the interface of physics and biology, developing theoretical physical models to describe the morphogenesis of cells and tissues.
The Salbreux lab currently has an open PhD position – please apply here. |
Ecology and Evolution program
Nadir Alvarez has recently been appointed Adjunct Professor at the Department of Genetics and Evolution. Nadir is head of the MuseumLab – Systematics and Evolution of Metazoa, located at the Geneva Natural History Museum. His group is investigating how individuals adapt to changing environments, using morphological, ecological, and genetic approaches. |
Anthony Lehmann is Full Professor at the Department A. Forel of Environmental and Aquatic Sciences and vice-director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences. His research group, enviroSPACE, has pioneered Species Distribution Modelling, and is currently involved in transforming Earth Observation data into environmental policy indicators at national and international levels. |
